Deepfakes continue to be problematic for organizations and individuals. They are hard to detect and hard to respond to when used in an attack against a company.
To respond to this ongoing, and increasingly prevalent, problem, cyber insurer Coalition announced this week that it will expand coverage for “certain incidents where AI and deepfakes lead to reputational harm.” The coverage will expand “to any video, image, or audio content that is created or manipulated through the use of AI by a third party, and that falsely purports to be authentic content depicting any past or present executive or employee, or falsely frames the organization’s products or services.” It will be interesting to see if other insurance companies offering cyber coverage will follow suit. You consider asking your broker about these offerings.
