IAPP webinar 9-24-26

IAPP will host the webinar “The AI You Didn’t Build: From Black Box to Defensible Risk” on Sept. 24 from 8 to 9 a.m. PT. The program will focus on the risks associated with artificial intelligence embedded in third-party software and provide a practical framework for identifying AI within vendor products, assessing and scoring third-party AI risk, and distinguishing inherent from residual risk. The discussion will also explore how organizations can translate AI risk assessments into procurement and contract terms, monitoring obligations, and escalation triggers.

GT Shareholder Darren Abernethy will participate in the discussion alongside Joanne Furtsch, Vice President, Privacy Knowledge at TrustArc, and Hilary Wandall, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer at Dun & Bradstreet. The panel will address how privacy and risk teams can evaluate third-party AI when visibility into underlying models is limited, including considerations such as data sensitivity, purpose, autonomy, and potential consequences, and how organizations can develop a defensible record of their AI risk assessments.
