SCWorld.com reported that “What we know for sure: DeepSeek has developed a highly effective AI model and people are flocking to try it out. Further details will surely come out in time, but for now, we are left with our own speculation.”  The January 30, 2025 article entitled ” Three lessons learned from DeepSeek and this week’s market meltdown” (https://tinyurl.com/34fa8xaf) included these comments about “The takeaway for right now:”

…the rate of investment in AI infrastructure was unsustainable, and an AI market correction was bound to happen eventually. The recent developments did just that. Experts are now forced to ask themselves whether we need to spend the estimated $100 million to $1 billion to train models, or if we can take the much cheaper, $5 million to $6 million model training approach that DeepSeek took. With the answer to that question still unknown, we must closely examine the security and ethics of this model before determining the path forward.

Here are all 3 Lessons:

  1. The AI market has been so hot, there was bound to be a correction
  2. The industry must closely examine security, privacy, and ethics
  3. Businesspeople love competition, but let’s remain cautiously optimistic

Please stay tuned for more AI stuff!
