Here’s why 85% of Americans have no access to legal services.

From the ABA Journal, reporting on a LexisNexis survey, released this last week.

Only 10% of lawyers think that generative artificial intelligence tools, such as ChatGPT, will have a “transformative impact” on the practice of law, and 60% of lawyers have “no plans to use [the technology] at this time.

Lawyers are not as innovative as they think they are, they are not looking to bring efficiencies to the delivery of legal services so as to make legal services more accessible and they do not appear to care about serving consumers and small business people in this country.

Hey, I am a lawyer, too – and rather than the legal profession’s lip service of a commitment to legal services over the last forty years, AI may enable caring lawyers to make an impact here.
